Meta’s AI Glasses Are Now Coaching Athletes
Your weekly guide to staying human in an AI world

Hey Conscious Church Fam
This week we’ve got wearable assistants, emotional support research, and a DNA model that scans a million base pairs at once.
Let’s dive into the madness and pull out some wisdom..
But first, if these emails have been helpful. Would you mind sharing it with 1 person today. :)
In today's recap:
• Meta partners with Oakley to launch AI sports glasses
• Claude now builds apps from your ideas
• Anthropic studied how people use Claude for emotional support
• DeepMind's AlphaGenome could change how we study DNA
Let’s dive in 👇
💭 Josh’s Musings
This week has been HOT. Like, literally sweating while writing this and vaguely trying to plan a spontaneous beach trip tomorrow (Monday).
Anyway, it’s been a week of less “thinking” and more “doing.” And one of the things I made felt genuinely useful motion backgrounds for worship or presentations, built entirely with AI.
Here’s the flow I used:
Midjourney → Topaz Bloom (for stills)
Midjourney → Animate → Topaz Astra (for motion)
If you’ve never used Topaz, it’s been the gold standard in upscaling for years. Take a blurry 480p image, and it’ll rebuild it into crisp 4K. It’s brilliant.
Their new web tools came with some free credits, so I tested them on a soft, floaty grass texture I’d generated. I used Midjourney Animate to add a subtle sway, then fed that low-res motion clip into Topaz for the final upscale.
Suddenly, I had a beautiful, seamless moving background. Not downloaded from a pack. Not outsourced. Custom-made in about 10 minutes. Perfect for lyrics or event screens.
There’s something freeing about that.
You’re no longer stuck trawling through video packs or learning motion software from scratch. The creative quality is within reach, even if you’re not a designer. The only real limit now? Direction. Vision.
Another little win this week, someone asked for help They mentioned in passing and I thought hmm maybe I could build a custom email signature for their team. Normally you’d find a free generator, or pay HubSpot to share styles with a team.
Instead, I opened Loveable (like Bolt which I mentioned the other week), told it what I needed, and five minutes later had a working, shareable, saveable signature builder. Not the prettiest thing—but it did the job.
That’s where we are now.
It’s not “I can’t do that” anymore.
It’s “Do I actually want to?”
Because in all likelihood, you can.

Recap:
Meta just revealed a new collab with Oakley, bringing AI smart glasses into the athletic world. Think Siri-meets-sunglasses, but for golfers, surfers and footballers.
The Details:
• Oakley x Meta HSTN starts at $399 with built-in AI assistant
• New 3K camera, double the battery, and better video
• Bluetooth for music, calls, and hands-free capture
• Launches this summer in 15 countries
• Gold edition drops July 11
Conscious Take:
Wearables are evolving fast, and Meta’s Ray-Ban line has probably been the most succesful AI wearable to date. From what I have seen of the Ray-Bans the quality looks good. Still I don’t know if I personally want that tech wrapped around my face.

Recap:
New research shows emotional support chats are not the main use case for Claude. Only 0.5% of all chats are companionship or roleplay based.
The Details:
• 4.5 million chats analysed with Clio, their anonymised usage tool
• Most chats focus on career advice or relationships
• Only 2.9% of conversations had any emotional tone
• Sentiment usually improved over the course of chats
Conscious Take:
There’s a lot of panic about people falling in love with AI (did anyone else see that BBC video?). But this study suggests that’s still niche—at least on Claude lol (ChatGPT might be a whole other world). Still, it raises pastoral questions. How do we walk with people who begin leaning on digital tools for care? This is a space we need both empathy and discernment.

Recap:
AlphaGenome is DeepMind’s new AI that analyses huge chunks of DNA to predict how mutations affect gene activity. It’s a big step forward in medical AI.
The Details:
• Reads sequences 100x longer than older tools
• Tested on leukaemia patients to map gene activation
• Trained on public data in 4 hours using less compute
• Unified model beats most specialised ones in benchmarks
Conscious Take:
It’s mind-blowing to think we’re moving from lab testing to near-instant genomic predictions. The ability to have systems like this analyse DNA and quickly figure things out is such a great use of this technology and I hope it will help prevent diseases.

Recap:
Claude just levelled up. You can now build entire apps—study tools, calculators, dashboards—by describing them in plain text. No code needed.
The Details:
• Free and Pro users can build and share apps inside Claude
• The apps are hosted via Claude’s “Artifacts” workspace
• You don’t manage costs or API keys—Claude does it all
• Over 500M artifacts created since August
Conscious Take:
The barrier to creating tools for your people just dropped again, and Claude is EXCELLENT at this. The barrier is even less than using a tool like Cursor. You can do it directly inside Claude. Maybe it’s a little devotional site, a prayer tracker, a daily encouragement etc.

Lord, in a world that moves swiftly, we thank You for the gift of stillness. Amid the noise of progress and the rush of innovation, quiet our hearts to hear Your whisper. Teach us to create not for recognition, but from obedience. Form in us a discernment that does not strive to be seen, but longs to be faithful. May our work be marked not by applause, but by Your presence.
That's all for nowTo help us make this an even better experience for you, we'd love to know your feedback from the email today. |
Stay conscious,
